Day and night, this clock ticks away the seconds
and strikes the hours in Carisbrooke Castle Museum.
 |
|
Every morning and evening a member of the
museum staff winds the two sides of the clock: the side that controls the
clock-face, and the side that controls the striking mechanism. |
This clock hasn't always been inside Carisbrooke
Castle Museum; it has been displaying the time to museum visitors only since
1997. However it's now a museum piece rather than a time-piece. It has had a
long and interesting history!
Use the links (left) or at the bottom to find out
about the fascinating history of the clock.
